The best thing about ska is that it’s so hard to feel sadness while you listen to it. I removes you, if only temporarily, from that mindset. it creates this barrier between you and your sadness and lets you think objectively for a while.
I’m crying because these sheets of LSD are absolutely gorgeous.
November 16, 1938: LSD is first synthesized by a chemist in Basel.
LSD (Lysergic Acid Diathylamide) was first isolated by Albert Hofmann, a Swiss chemist working for Sandoz Laboratories, during experimentation with the ergot fungus. Though Hoffman’s aim was to create an analeptic, the resulting drug was used extensively over the following decades to model psychosis, treat minor mental illness, and foster creativity in artists. Before it came to prominence, however, the drug remained largely forgotten until 1943, when Hofman tested the drug on himself and first experienced its powerful perception-altering effects- the first acid trip (known as “Bicycle Day”).
Author Aldous Huxley was a pioneer in using psychedelic drugs to enhance creativity. The term “psychedelic” (soul-manifesting) was coined by Huxley’s acquaintance Humphry Osmond in reference to hallucinogenic drugs (specifically LSD).

It was not until the 1960s that public backlash to LSD became prominent - the drug was first outlawed in the United States in 1966 (in California) and eventually was banned in all states, but ironically, it was at this time that the psychedelic/hippie subcultures began emerging.
